I grab my phone from my jacket's pocket and quickly dial 'Silverwing'."Hello, yes, ok I know I'm meant to be at the party but I uhh kinda got hung up" I say frantically to my friend "what do I mean by hung up? Well I ran my car off a cliff but hung on to the edge of it"

"WHAT?! Wait, give me the location and I'll come and get you as soon as I can" Silverwing yells.

"umm I think I'm at ahh Skater Loss Bend. You'll find me hanging of the edge, so PLEASE HURRY!!!" I reply, almost losing my grip.

Three phone calls later, Silverwing, Blitzen and Ruby Rose surround me, grabbing me by the hoofs and hauling me to the safety of the road. "What happened Blitz?" asked.

"Well, there was something on the road, I think it was an animal, and I tried to dodge it and in doing so the car drove off the cliff, and well, you know the rest." I replied, still in shock after the whole ordeal. Ruby Rose, after checking me for any injuries, tells the others to go and find some medical ponies. "Where are they going Ruby?" I ask, as they fly off.

"well...umm, they're going to get some medical ponies for your leg, Blitz." turning around to search through her bag "its bleeding badly so I'm just going to put some ointment on it with a bandage until they get back, to slow the bleeding a bit. Mmm, here, eat this." she says, revealing a chocolate muffin.

"Thanks" I say, as I eat the muffin.

At the hospital it is boring. I have nothing to do, even though my friends visit me every day. I share my room with two other ponies. An earthpony, grey with dark blue mane, that hasn't woken from a mysterious slumber and a unicorn that never stops talking! I know her whole life. Where she grew up, who her family is, where she lives, why she's in hospital...everything! She is a deep navy with almost golden mane and tail, with ivy-coloured eyes named Juliette. Even though she is talkative, she is polite and caring, kind of like Ruby. At night all you can hear is the sounds of ponies snoring and the crickets chirping.

ONE WEEK LATER

"How have you been lately, Starbliz?"asked the doctor. He has asked me the same question everyday for the past few, and my answer has been the same "very well, doctor" and every time he then checks the earth-pony's condition and leaves. That night, I wake to the sound of muffled voices.

"doctor, doctor!" somepony yells. I sit up in bed and look around the large room. I see the doctor with the earth pony...who is awake! I see them chatting and try to listen to the hushed conversation. "How long have I been out for doctor?" says the earth pony, rubbing his head.

"About a year, Blue Jay"

"Oh my gosh. A whole year... that's just... just... devastating" Jay says, looking in my direction. I quickly lay down, hoping that he didn't catch me eaves dropping. "who is in that bed?" Jay whispered to the doctor.

"umm... Starblitz an earth pony, like you, been hear for about a week. but why?"

"just wondering, that's all." they continue talking for a few minutes, then he doctor leaves, but by then I was asleep.

When I wake, Jay is talking with Juliette. In front of me is a tray with fresh cider and a pile of steaming pancakes. As I eat, Jay introduces himself and we start chatting. I find out that the chariot he was travelling in, set for Canterlot, crashed and he went into a coma.

As we walk  to the reception, I tell Jay all that has happened in the past year and over the next few days we become great friends. We exchange details and say farewell.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over the next few weeks, Blue Jay and I go to concerts and hang out. My friends are introduced and things are wonderful. Today I wake to the sound of my phone. 'hey blitz meet me at the edge of Ponyville near the forest. I need to tell you something.. important' says the text. Straight away I feel adrenalin rush through my body and I am ready to leave in minutes. As I walk the streets of Ponyville, I see my friends high in the sky, the clouds giving them a huge hug.

half an hour has passed and no sign of Jay. I text him, 'WHERE ARE YOU?!', no reply. After five minutes, I start walking home, held low and spirits down. When I get home, my phone chirps, 'I'm so sorry, I got sick and couldn't meet up' says the text from Jay. I am so angry that I went straight to bed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TWO WEEKS LATER
"Hi Jay, I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?" I say to myself, repeating over and over again for about an hour. The phone rings, "Hello, Starblitz speaking."

"Hey Blitz, I was just wondering if you wanted to meet up sometime?"

"Uh, yeah, sure. When were you thinking?"

"Maybe tonight by the lake, I will come around at seven and pick you up. Ok?"

"Yeah, that sounds great" My heart in my mouth

"I will see you there" but by then he had hung up, but I didn't care.

HOURS LATER

I am walking to Jay's house wearing a shining gown, made by Rarity. My friends are enjoying the sunset in the clouds with Rainbow Dash, and the last apples are being picked by Apple Jack. As I walk up to his door, he walks out in a fancy suit and a rose in his hoof. He hoofs me the rose and we share a smile. Sitting by the lake side it is magical, Jay brings some food and we share a romantic meal, watching the sun set on Equestria. After hours of laying under the starlight, he walks me home and share one last kiss. Then he leaves at my door and as he walks away he looks back and smiles sweetly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been two years since I meet Blue Jay and we fell in love. We have settled into a new home, on the edge of Ponyville near the lakeside. Our two foals, Sugar Blossom and Brave Racer are our little angels. They were born 1 year to date and they are already getting into loads of mischief. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if I hadn't go to hospital, 'I would be content and would be happy, but not as happy as I am now'.

I sometimes sit and wonder what my life will be in the future. From watching them grow up, to grandkids and the elderly life I shall share with Blue Jay. I know that life may have its ups and down and I can’t stop that but right now in the moment I don't care. My life is amazing I have a loving family that I love and that is all I could ever ask for. That is all I have ever wanted and now I have it. My dreams are fulfilled. Now comes time to watch and help my foals achieve theirs too. They are good foals and they will achieve many things, I just know it. everyday I tell them, "Live life as it comes, make the most of what you have and try your best" and I hope that's what they do.

My daughter, Sugar Blossom, is a lovely light blue with candy-like pink and lime mane and tail. She is kind and caring, and has beautiful purple eyes. My son, Brave Soul, is a deep blue with dark brown and purple mane and tail. He has dark green eyes and gets up to all sorts of trouble. They may not be perfect to others, but they are perfect to Jay and I.

"Its a dream" Scene study

This pivotal scene is where Chihiro makes the most character development. It starts with her finding the bridge outside the bath-house, as well as meeting Haku.
On the bridge, Chihiro finds herself being directed by Haku to leave ("You shouldn't be here. Get out of here now!"). Chihiro runs back to where her parents were to be greeted by these two gigantic pigs scoffing their faces with food. Chihiro is shocked and scared and runs back to the street, where the spirits are roaming.

She then runs back the way she came, finding a huge river with a vibrant town on the other size ("Water? What? I'm dreaming! I'm dreaming! Come on. Wake up! Wake up!"). She starts to panic, rocking back and forth on the steps, slowly turning transparent ("Wake up it's just a dream. It's just a dream. Go away. Away... Disappear. I'm see-through! It's just a bad dream.").

By now it is already nightfall, and a boat full of spirits is crossing the river. The boat unloads, and Chihiro runs and hides nearby as the spirits get off the boat. The spirits float out of the rooms as paper masks, slowly turning into the full spirit as the leave the boat. As Chihiro is hiding, Haku finds her and feeds her some food. ("Don't worry; I'm not going to turn you into a pig") Yu-bird flies above, searching for Chihiro. Haku hides her, covering her with his body ("don’t move."). As yu-bird flies past, Chihiro is 'binded' to the ground. Haku 'un-binds' her with his magic ("In the name of the wind and water within the, unbind her."), then they run through the streets as fast as the wind.

Haku and Chihiro reach the bathhouse's bridge. Using magic, Haku puts a spell on Chihiro to disguise her as she crosses the bridge ("You have to hold your breath while we cross the bridge. Even the tiniest breath will break the spell, and then everyone will see you."), but things don’t go to plan. Just before they get to the other side of the bridge, a small frog known as ' Aogaeru' stops Haku. Chihiro takes a breath ("Master Haku! Where have you been? Wha... A human?").

Haku explains what Chihiro must do to save her parents (HAKU: Listen carefully to what I tell you to do. You can't stay here. They'll find you and you'll never get to rescue your parents. I'll create a diversion while you escape. CHIHIRO: No! Don't leave me. I don't wanna be alone. HAKU: You don't have any choice if you want to help your parents.   This is what you have to do. This is what you have to do. CHIHIRO: They did turn into pigs. I wasn't dreaming. HAKU: Don't worry. Now, when things quiet down, go out through the back gate. Go all the way down the stairs until you reach the boiler room where they stoke the fires. There you'll find Kamajii, the boiler man. CHIHIRO: Kamajii? HAKU: Tell him you want to work here. Even if he refuses, you must insist. If you don't get a job, Yubaba will turn you into an animal. CHIHIRO: Yubaba. Huh? HAKU: You'll see. She's the witch who rules the bathhouse. Kamajii will try to turn you away or trick you into leaving but just keep asking for work. It'll be hard work, but you'll be able to stay here. Then, even Yubaba can't harm you. CHIHIRO: Mm-hmm. I have to go. Don't forget, Chihiro, I'm your friend. CHIHIRO: How did you know my name's Chihiro? HAKU: I've known you since you were very small. Good luck, and whatever you do, don't make a sound.")

In conclusion, this is one of the most important scenes. Chihiro changes the most and goes through the most character development. We met another one of the main characters (Haku). Chihiro finds the bath-house and learns about Yubaba, Kamajii, No-Face and the spirit world.

'Spirited away' film reveiw

'Spirited Away' is the first Miyazaki I have seen, but from this stunning film I can tell he is a master storyteller. During the first fifteen minutes we have no idea what is going on. Neither does the main character, Chihiro. We discover the world as Chihiro does and it's truly amazing to watch. But Miyazaki doesn't seem to treat this world as something amazing. The inhabitants of the world go about their daily business as usual. Places and buildings are not greeted by towering establishing shots and majestic music. The fact that this place is amazing doesn't seem to concern Miyazaki.

At the start Chihiro is a selfish, spoiled, whiny brat. But as she plunges deeper into the spirit world, she becomes more independent, more assured and more respectful. No Face, a black figure with a white mask, is the motivation behind Chihiro's transformation. Once he is let into the bathhouse, we are no longer tourists – the story propels forth. Watching No Face prey on the greed of the workers is a terrifying delight.

The animation is wonderful, if not as smooth as Disney's works – but there's something superior to that. 'Spirited Away's imperfect, but the detailed world is far more fascinating than the perfected un-inspiring of Disney's latest contributions.  The film is full of vivid images – both beautiful and horrifying. The line between those two extremes is crossed over seamlessly. From Chihiro and Haku running through an opening flower field to Haku's dragon snarling with a bloody mouth, both extremes seem to belong in the film. It's also excellently done with the characters. Kamaji can be seen as a scary, daunting figure at the beginning, but soon he changes into a humble, wise figure. Yubaba also seems to be able to turn from kind to witch with the snap of a finger.

The sounds perfectly match the on screen actions and objects. It plays excellently with the scenes, but never overbears them. A lot of the time the it is barely noticeable, a sole piano plays softly in the background evoking a dreamlike/lullaby quality.

'Spirited Away' works on a multitude of levels; a social commentary on Japan, a homage to ancient Japanese/Russian mythology, a moral film for both children and adults. But most importantly, it is a simple story brilliantly told by a great filmmaker who appears to be at the top of his game. 'Spirited Away' works much like a relaxing journey. Pop in the DVD; leave this world for two hours and when you will be almost certainly enriched and ready to take the trip again.
